Life Changing Decisions
09.27.04 (12:52 pm)   [edit]
Do you know what it's like to make the hard choices in life?

Everyone gets to have some of those..

Usually they're thrusted into your lap if you want it or not. But sometimes you come to a crossroad and make a concsious decision one way or another.

I usually refrain from making these kind of decisions. It's too much of a hassle. I like leaving things as they are. not making too many waves. not rocking my boat. letting sleeping dogs lie. running out of metaphores..

For me, it's a build up of events that usually leads me to the point of change. I guess I need an external push in order to get myself out of my nice cosy paddle of mud, and take a couple of steps. (in any direction)

This time it's work related. I feel a change comming. and It'll happen whether I want it or not. It's my subconscious that drives this change. So I do things which I recognize later as deeds that further that cause. Thing is, once this life changing act is done, my subconscious (the bastard) leaves me alone to deal with the consequences.. Not very nice..

So, Since I do feel the change comming (no, I'm not turning into a wolf. thanks for asking), all I can do is try and act against my lazy nature and prepare so I won't be left standing empty handed once the "storm" is over.

Food's Back!
09.25.04 (11:16 am)   [edit]

It's no so much the food, more the comfort of having it in my belly..

Hunger is something that no one should experience (unless of course from his/her own will or desire)

For me, being the skinny guy that I am, some times it's very hard to stick with yom kipur to it's end. but I usually make it :) yay me...

Since I overthink in regular days I spend my yom kippurs doing the opposite. as in avoiding thought as much as possible. It works better in terms of quieting the mind. so I found anyways.

Belgian Fries
09.23.04 (10:48 am)   [edit]

Fries are always a good subject..

Today I tried a new belgian fries place just across the street. It was.. okay. Maybe It's better at the beginning of the day when the oil's fresher.. :>

Here's a Link for a nice recipe for belgian Fries: http://www.belgianfries.com/index.cfm?Module=recept1#" title="http://www.belgianfries.com/index.cfm?Module=recept1#" target="_blank"http://www.belgianfries.com/i...

the Thing about belgian fries is: You really need patience and self dicipline so as not to just fry them once and eat'em up.. If you manage to follow the 2 frying cycles, you're one patient person.. :)

Mmmm... Fries...

Yom Kipur
09.22.04 (9:05 am)   [edit]

Saturday is Yom Kipur.

Yom Kipur is the Jewish day of atonement. We (as in anyone jewish who wants, or anyone jewish who's religious) fast on this day. As in, No Food, AND No drink. (unlike the muslims who are not allowed to eat but may drink, and eat only in the eve of rammadan. I may be mistaken though..)

The reason for the fasting is to cleanse ourselves. From sins, from spiritual and physical dirt. We ask forgiveness from anyone we may have hurt in the passing year and pledge to try and be better people. (fat chance of that.. ;)

Plus it's really good for the figure.. :P

Since I don't know any of you, I don't really need to ask your forgiveness, but if anyone I do know comes by, I'm sorry for any wrong doings, and wish you a pure new year of good deeds and happy thoughts!

Been spending my time the last couple of days lazying around, trying to get my foot to heal. It's much better than before..

Have a great day People!

Fucking Sprain?
09.19.04 (8:27 am)   [edit]
The question mark is because I'm not sure its a sprain. I'm not sure it hurts in the right amount for a sprain, and here's a guide:

Light Pain - Indicates a trauma to the limb, usually just a hard blow, followed by swelling.

Medium Pain - May indicate a Sprain or a hairline fracture (with potential for a Full fledged fracture, if left untended and applied pressure on)

Severe Pain - Usually indicates a Broken limb. but may also indicate a sprain. the more complex the fracture, the more agonizing the pain.

On the first item (light pain) - you can step on the afflicted foot or apply pressure on the said limb, with a price to pay of course.

On the latter two items, you can't really apply pressure. it seems to hurt quite well as it is.

Mine has got swollen, since I did step on the said foot. I was out and about doing some physical excercise on a "Fun Day" with my co-workers and bosses.

I hope you all have a non-painful day and a very pleasant week! :)

Dead Like Me
09.18.04 (7:11 am)   [edit]
Do you know the show? I've been watching it since it started.

I love black humor. I guess it fits my mood. (blues.. can you tell?)

Did you ever had a time in your life when you felt like you're dead inside? like there is a gaping hole somewhere near your heart and lungs? and nothing special has happened? I guess more people than I'd like to believe..

It makes me really feel empty (dead and empty kinda go together as I gather) inside.. and no amount of food can fill that void.

I know what I should do, and I also know why I don't do it. Change is a scary thing. Any change.

Yoga
09.15.04 (4:16 am)   [edit]
I've been practicing Ashtanga Yoga with my dad for a couple of months now.

It's not an easy sport. But you definitely feel your muscles at work. all kinds of muscles :)

Now I'm thinking of adding some Jiu Jitsu to the mix. to work on effective and purposeful movements.

Over here it's Jewish New Year, So Shana Tova to everyone!

A Raise
09.14.04 (5:19 am)   [edit]
:?

I just learned that I was given a raise (after asking for one of course.. you don't get nothing here if you don't push for it).

It seem to be like a blessing, and it is, only thing, it's way less than what I asked for. I mean WAY less.

I know that you're supposed to ask more than you wanna get and this way you'll get about what you originally wanted.

I'm not greedy. I just want to get out of debt the fastest I can. And this kind of raise is not the way to reach that goal any time soon..

I can't really do anything about it though.. unless I try going over my direct boss's head - and that's never a good idea. plus I don't really know how much good it will do.. if any.

Any ideas?

Another work day
09.13.04 (9:51 pm)   [edit]
They all seem the same.. you come in, log in, open the mail, look at some sites, drink some water, coffee, trying to get those damn sleep left overs from your foggy brain, usually quite unsuccessfully..

I do like the (relative) quietness of the morning though. I hate getting up early. especially since I always do. (6:30 am, with or without an alarm)

I start my day looking forward to its ending, does it neccessarily make me unhappy? well, maybe unsatisfied about where I am at this point in my life. I'm told I can take comfort at the fact that most people are not happy at their position in life (proffessionaly at least). I don't really draw any comfort from that.

But don't think I'm always in depression.. just in the mornings.. I'm a much better person at night.. ;)

Eyeing this model
09.13.04 (1:59 am)   [edit]
Cowon iAudio U2

Of course it's the newest and best. (got an FM radio, can record from it, or from a microphone, even got sound effects such as surround)

Of course, since it's the newest and best, it's also kinda pricey, plus it isn't too available world wide (if you count out Korea).

So naturally I emailed the company twice and once they figure out what I want, maybe I'll be able to get myself one of those.. ;)

More to come. stay tuned!

Searching..
09.12.04 (5:11 am)   [edit]
These days I'm toying with one of my favourite past time activities: thinking how to spend my money on gadgets. I just LOVE gadgets.. :) This time it's a MP3 Player. I had a beautiful MP3CD player http://www.mp3newswire.net/stories/2001/avcsoul.html" title="http://www.mp3newswire.net/stories/2001/avcsoul.html" target="_blank"http://www.mp3newswire.net/st... which worked good once I updated its firmware a couple of times.. So why do I need a new one? Simply, I discovered that my nice player's latch broke for some reason, and it cannot read any CDs now.. Mp3, WMA, Audio - nothing. :( So now I'm on the prowl, looking, comparing, trying to get the best deal I can find. :) This time, I'm looking at Flash based players, that can double as a disk-on-key. As they got no moving parts, and it's based on chips only, It can sustain running, and got a really long battery life. I'll keep you updated on my search as it progresses. Have a great day, and Shana Tova!

Beginning
09.12.04 (4:52 am)   [edit]
I'll try and keep this blog updated, but as I'm a person with changing levels of patience, I might go for days without a post. So bear with me. or don't

My name is Oren, I live and work in Israel. Born and raised here all my life.

I moved around (inside of Israel) for quite a bit. I've been living in places such as Ashdod, Ra'anana, Ramat-Gan, Rehovot and a few others. I don't recommend it. it makes it harder to find friends that way..

But that's in the past. These days, I have a job, an apartment, two worried parents (know any two that aren't?), a younger brother (in Thailand at the moment), and an older sister (with a cute new nephew).

That's all for Introductions. I'll elaborate on what this blog will be about in a short time. so check in. you're always invited!
