A Raise
09.14.04 (5:19 am)   [edit]
:?

I just learned that I was given a raise (after asking for one of course.. you don't get nothing here if you don't push for it).

It seem to be like a blessing, and it is, only thing, it's way less than what I asked for. I mean WAY less.

I know that you're supposed to ask more than you wanna get and this way you'll get about what you originally wanted.

I'm not greedy. I just want to get out of debt the fastest I can. And this kind of raise is not the way to reach that goal any time soon..

I can't really do anything about it though.. unless I try going over my direct boss's head - and that's never a good idea. plus I don't really know how much good it will do.. if any.

Any ideas?

Same thing happened to me, so I went back and told my boss that I needed more. I explained (somewhat) what my bills were like. I told her that I wouldn't ask for it right away, but things were piling up, and it was all being used on bills (i had nothing to show for it) My raise went from a few cents to 3000 more a year..however..it's still not enough..but I guess that's the price I pay to work very very near my home.

maybe ask why you got a lot less than you asked for, and what you can do to rectify the situation? what have you got to lose? (don't answer that)

If I was to answer that, I had plenty to say... :)
thing is, to try and rectify, I need to basically go over my boss's head.. I'll see if there's any point of talking to him before I got to the bigger boss.
thanks for the comments though.. :)
